FC Construction is trusted to do high-quality work by an established portfolio of clients, many of whom return to us with new projects as the need arises. It is also well-regarded by design teams in the region who appreciate the company’s professional approach, and proven track record, in delivering what they have ordered. We aim to protect that reputation by maintaining a high standard on a consistent basis in the years ahead.
FC Construction was founded by Finbar Conlon in 2003. Based in Limerick city, Finbar got his first experiences of building site life growing up in Ballinamore, Co Leitrim. His father Tommy Conlon was a well-known building contractor and joinery manufacturer through the 1960s, ‘70s and ‘80s.
Finbar learned timber craftsmanship and the finer elements of woodwork in his father’s joinery workshop. His early experience on building sites exposed him to the full array of trades. On the business side he learned about delivering contracts on budget and on time.
Finbar qualified as an electrician in the mid-1980s and began working on commercial electrical contracts for factories, refrigeration plants, hotels and housing estates. Subsequently he worked as an electrician, and later as a site foreman, for many years in England, Europe and Australia before returning home to assist in the family business.
Eventually he moved to Limerick and set up FC Construction. Projects have ranged from one-off houses to large commercial projects such as elderly care homes, car showrooms, pub/restaurants, factories, factory fit-outs, retail premises and extensions.
Finbar has an established reputation for attention to detail. He takes personal pride in finishing projects to a high standard. Elements of a build that are high-spec and technically challenging are embraced. They are worked out with client and architect, and executed accordingly. He is committed to delivering, as precisely as possible, a client’s original vision.
Finbar likes to remain in communication with his clients right throughout their projects. It is the best way of anticipating problems before they arise, and defusing as smoothly as possible any issues that do emerge. He has acquired a lot of skill over the years in negotiating solutions to contentious issues, such as boundary disputes and complications regarding the supply of utilities, which can impact on the cost and completion-date of a project.
In short, he aspires to doing high-quality work, on budget and on time, in an amenable environment for both client and design team.
